Professional Experience
2006-present Hurricane Recovery Project Coordinator and Editor/Writer with the LSU AgCenter. Responsibilities involve working closely with the director of the LSU AgCenter’s Road Home hurricane recovery project, assisting in creating and maintaining a project coordination system in the LSU AgCenter “SharePoint” environment, coordinating the efforts of field faculty and in AgCenter campus departments related to hurricane reconstruction.
2006-2006 Technical Editor with Innovative Emergency Management (IEM) in Baton Rouge. Responsibilities included editing documents and providing documentation support for researchers and other professionals.
2000-2006 Communications Agent with the LSU AgCenter covering a 24-parish area in North Louisiana. Responsible for writing stories and taking pictures for distribution from AgCenter News Bureau, as well as serving as media contact for the LSU AgCenter in North Louisiana.
1995-2000 Reporter/Bureau Chief with The News-Star. Responsibilities included serving as Ruston Bureau Chief, covering general assignment reporting for The News-Star, a mid-sized daily newspaper headquartered in Monroe, La.
1992-1995 News Director for the Ruston Broadcasting Co. Responsibilities included writing and producing five daily newscasts for sister radio stations KXKZ 107.5-FM and KRUS 1490-AM. Also produced a weekly talk show focusing on issues of local interests.
1990 -1992 Reporter/Bureau Chief with The Florence Morning News. Responsbilities included serving as Lake City Bureau Chief for the Florence Morning News, headquartered in Florence, SC. Wrote hard-news stories for the daily and soley produced a weekly supplement, The Lynches River News, which was distributed on Fridays in Lower Florence County. Production of The Lynches River News involved writing stories, editing, taking photos, and paginating the supplement.
1989-1990 General Assignment Reporter with The Denham Springs News. Responsibilities included writing hard news, features, sports news, and taking photos, as well as assisting in page design and layout.

- Silver Award from Agricultural Communicators in Education in April 2004 for a collection of stories I assisted with about rice research being done in Louisiana.
- 2nd Place for Interpretive Reporting in 1999 from the Associated Press Managing Editors Association for stories that appeared in a news package about video poker.
