WORK LOCATION: Primary location to be based on applicant selected with services provided to all AgCenter locations statewide. Position will likely have offices in both Baton Rouge and central Louisiana.

JOB DESCRIPTION: Provides a confidential, neutral source for AgCenter employees (classified, unclassified, faculty and other academic) to raise issues and concerns, identify options, and request assistance to informally resolve workplace conflicts. Confidentially receives questions, complaints and concerns related to individual situations as well as broader issues. Listens impartially and gives unbiased feedback. Provides a confidential place to collaboratively explore complaints and consider options. Points employees toward available services and resources. May serve as facilitator in group problem-solving. May assist parties in reaching resolutions that are consistent with the ideals and objectives of the LSU AgCenter. Educates the AgCenter community about conflict resolution. Proactively works with AgCenter units to improve team cohesion and supervisor skills. Serves as a communications resource and catalyst for institutional change for the AgCenter through reporting of trends and identification of opportunities to enhance policies and procedures. The Ombudsperson will report directly to the chancellor and will be a member of the International Ombudsman Association (IOA).

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Master’s degree in counseling, psychology, social work, human resources, or a related field and five years of related experience. Experience in higher education, knowledge of higher education policies and procedures, and experience with mediation and facilitation helpful. Excellent communication, leadership, conflict resolution, interpersonal and organizational skills are essential

SALARY AND BENEFITS: Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The LSU AgCenter has an attractive benefits package with a wide variety of benefit options.
