06437 EXTENSION ASSOCIATE (LOUISIANA BODY WALK DRIVER/MANAGER) - SCHOOL OF HUMAN ECOLOGY (RE-ADVERTISEMENT)

(This is a grant-funded, non-tenure track position through 12/31/2009. Continuation will be dependent on funding, job performance, and continued need for the appointment)

WORK LOCATION: School of Human Ecology, Louisiana State University Agricultural Center, Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

JOB DESCRIPTION: This position will be responsible for the transportation, set-up and implementation of the Louisiana Body Walk exhibit, an interactive educational exhibit for youth, grades K-5, that teaches the importance of healthy lifestyles including nutrition education and physical activity. The Louisiana Body Walk is one component of a three-part comprehensive nutrition education and physical activity program for elementary school children called Smart Bodies. Implementation of the Louisiana Body Walk includes setting up and taking-down the exhibit, working closely with local extension and school personnel, coordinating and training volunteers, assisting with collecting, analyzing data for evaluation and trouble shooting, and any other duties as assigned by principal investigator. Employee will drive a 1.5 ton truck taking the exhibit to schools and community events throughout the state 4-5 days out of the week.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree required; experience in nutrition and health preferred and teaching experience desirable. Position requires high energy, dependable person with strong communication and organizational skills willing to be on the road 4-5 days a week traveling the state.

SALARY AND BENEFITS: Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The LSU AgCenter has an attractive benefits package with a wide variety of benefit options. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: A personal automobile and appropriate insurance coverage is required (travel allowance provided).
